Free CSU Dance Workshops

10/18, 10/25, & 11/8

taught by CSU Dance Majors

Impulse has partnered with the CSU Dance program to offer their Dance majors more teaching practice and FREE workshops for our community. The workshops are open level and feature intermediate technique and choreography. See the schedule and locations below. Please note: Participants must RSVP for the 11/8 workshop at Impulse.

COMMERCIAL JAZZ: Join us for a FREE adult intermediate dance class taught by CSU Dance majors Charva Jamison and Micaela Oar. This class explores the funky and rhythmic style of commercial jazz. This class encourages personal artistry as we work on expanding our range of fundamental jazz phrase work. Through emphasizing musicality and performance, this class inspires individual growth and increases comfort while diving into fun, upbeat movement. Get ready to leap, turn, and move to classic and modern jazz and pop hits!

CONTEMPORARY: Join us for a FREE adult intermediate dance class taught by CSU Dance majors Madison Hard and Jordan Santry. This is a fun and exhilarating contemporary class that explores contractional elements while harnessing gravity to find musical play. This class will lean into edgy styles of movement that subvert common dance conventions while also exploring fluidity & flow. Get ready to dive into a vast exploration of personal movement affinities and embark on self-exploration and connection to others.

These CSU workshops are provided to our community for FREE with the intention of providing extra teaching practice for CSU Dance majors. The student teachers were selected for these workshops because they are enrolled in Pedagogy for Dance Techniques at CSU. There will be a follow up survey that encourages attendees to submit feedback for the student teachers’ continued growth.
