Saturday, June 13th, 2:30pm & 4:15PM
Celebrate Pride and express your authentic self through dance with not one but TWO Pride Dance Labs on Saturday, June 13th, at the Impulse studio! Both classes feature music from Queer artists and encourage you to love and accept yourself through freeing movement and an accepting community. Movers of all identities are welcome in class. Sign up for one or both using the buttons below!
We start with Contemporary Fusion from 2:30PM-4:00PM with Boulder/Denver choreographer and educator Hannah Larson. This open level class will dissect layers of the music and use our bodies to reflect what we hear and how we feel. It is a safe space to express yourself and to challenge your mind and body with grounded contemporary movement, technique, and improvisation. A portion of profit from Hannah’s Dance Lab goes to the Alana Faith Chen Foundation.
Next is Heels from 4:15PM-5:45PM with Denver-based performer and educator Prince of Pumps. About so much more than shoes, everyone is welcome to explore your power in heels. Prince of Pumps (AKA Will Walker) leads us through confidence-building exercises and electrifying, open level choreography. Safe, sturdy heels encouraged but not required to enjoy this class.
Hannah Larson is a dancer, teacher, and choreographer in Colorado. She is originally from Houston, Texas and began her training at Rowland School of Ballet. She graduated summa cum laude from University of Arizona with a BFA in Dance, and a BA in Information Science and Arts. She joined Art.If.Act Dance Project in “The Great American Dance Tour of China,” and in 2016, she was chosen as a presenter for the Young Choreographer’s Festival in New York City. Upon moving to Colorado, Hannah joined The Schiff Dance Collective for two years. Now she is a sought-after contemporary teacher and choreographer in the Boulder / Denver area. Currently she is a member of Rogue Co. and teaches at Grace Studios. Hannah is currently on faculty at the Boulder Jazz Dance Workshop and dances with the Boulder Jazz Dance Collective. She strives to pass on her passions for dance, choreography, and music to each student she teaches.
Prince of Pumps, AKA Will Walker, comes to Colorado as a competitive and drill team dancer from Austin, Texas. Later, following his passion for performance, he perused a career of commercial, pageantry, and concert opportunities. Having taught for 23 years, Will has the potion for stage presence that all movers can benefit from. His future endeavors include getting to perform on the Denver Pride Stage AND to teach more heels!
