FAQ

Who can dance at Impulse?

Impulse is a dance studio for adults 18 years of age and up. We have built our studio to be a space that welcomes, includes, and celebrates all adult movers. We believe every body can dance, regardless of background, size, gender, or identity. We offer accessible, fun-filled classes for beginners and noncompetitive, joyful classes for more advanced movers.

How does your program work?

Impulse strives for a community environment, so we offer an enrollment-based program where members commit to attending the same classes weekly. This structure supports you in reaching your goals, cultivating connections, and enjoying the other benefits of dance.

To enroll in our program, most members pay $160 monthly. There are lower and higher rates available to meet the needs of each student’s custom class schedule, so we encourage you to try classes before enrollment so our team can chat with you in detail about membership. While drop-ins are possible, they are dependent on class capacity each week, which varies and can be difficult to predict far into the future.

I'm new. How do I book a class?

If you’re not a current member, start by going to our Get Started page. We have a 3 for $30 Intro Program that we ask new folks to use before enrolling in classes so that you can find a great class fit. During your Intro Program, our staff will check in with you to see which classes you might want to enroll in regularly.

What should I wear?

Wear whatever makes you feel confident and ready to dance! For footwear, ask your instructor for recommendations since it might vary depending on class style.

Where do I park?

The Impulse studio has a small parking lot that circles our building. If that’s full, we can use the free public street parking in the neighborhood directly west of our building or the Sage parking lot directly north of our building (after 5:00PM weekdays / weekends only).

What if I need to miss a class?

Current members should download the WellnessLiving Achieve app on iOS or Android to let us know if you can’t make it to class. In the app, go to My Schedule and tap “cancel session” for the class you know you’ll miss. As long as you cancel at least 1 hour prior to class start time, you’ll have a class credit added to your account, which you can use to book a make up class on our website here.

Absences are considered unexcused if they weren’t cancelled at least 1 hour prior to class start time; notifying us of your absence allows those on the waitlist to take class.

Fitness members can book other fitness classes as make ups. Dance technique members can book other dance technique classes and fitness classes as make ups.

Note: These policies do not apply to Intro Programs. If you need to miss one of your scheduled Intro classes, contact us to explore your options.

What happens if I'm gone for a while?

If members are absent from their enrolled class without notice to our front desk for 4 weeks, they will be automatically unenrolled if the class is full. This allows for others on the waitlist to join the class. Please contact us if you’re going to be gone for more than 3 weeks. We can also discuss a 1 month membership pause if need be (see question below).

Can I pause my membership?

Yep! You can pause your membership for 1 month per membership term. During a pause, your class spot is saved so you can return to your normal dance schedule. Pauses must be communicated in writing. Contact us at info@impulsedancefitness.com to learn more.

How does the scholarship work?

The Impulse Happy Place Scholarship is a needs-based financial aid program designed for current Impulse members experiencing hard times who don’t want to stop dancing but need a little help with tuition. We know the value of dance and friendship during hard times, and we actively raise funds for this scholarship throughout the year so that members who have fallen on hard times can seek solace and joy in their dance community without needing to immediately cancel their Impulse membership. The Happy Place Scholarship is designed for them, with love. If you are in need of financial assistance with your monthly Impulse tuition due to a personal emergency, please contact info@impulsedancefitness.com and we’ll send you the scholarship application.

What if my automatic payment is declined?

If your tuition payment is 10 days late, you will be issued a $25 late fee for that month. If payment is not resolved within 30 days, you may lose your place in class or have your membership canceled.

How do I cancel my membership?

Membership is cancelable by giving us at least 30 days of notice via email. Cancellation must be received 30 days in advance of next billing cycle or membership expiration date. It is the member’s responsibility to monitor membership expiration and renewal dates.

How do you determine your prices?

Our prices reflect the quality of our program and instruction. We truly wish everyone could dance for free to their heart’s content; however, we also believe in paying our staff a living wage and being fiscally responsible with our operating expenses and long-term goals. Therefore, our tuition is carefully priced to take Fort Collins’ cost of living into account.

Rest assured that every day, the Impulse Team is thoughtfully and lovingly working behind the scenes and in the studio to build and maintain a dance community that welcomes and celebrates all adult movers, and members’ tuition makes that work possible.
